The playfully-titled “Place In The Sun”, exudes the transcendent feeling of being in such beautiful natural environs—exudes a sense of spirituality and joyous mystery. The song features many musical keepsakes from Todd’s musical journey, including dreamy Sérgio Mendes-style female vocals, a funk and Motown-like grooving rhythm section, and 1970s jazz-fusion musicality with Todd’s lyrical but dexterous guitar playing.

This hybrid composition combines late 70’s new wave/ska with a Tower of Power/James Brown rhythm section and melody reminiscent of Tom Scott and the LA Express. Reflecting an early part of my musical career performing new wave and jazz fusion, this tune is a tribute to Tom Scott’s “Tom Cat,” album which was an early inspiration. I accidentally copied a portion of lyric to Tom’s part which inspired him to solo using an aerophone vocal patch. The lyric sounds reflect the Vietnamese language.
